Atlas Copco has been directly present in the Middle East since 2003, with the regional headquarters Atlas Copco Services Middle East situated in Bahrain, supporting 11 countries in the region. Atlas Copco operates directly in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the UAE through local depots. Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iraq and Iran are operated through appointed distributors with the support from Atlas Copco Services Middle East.

Compressed air is not only one of the most important utilities in industry today, but one of the largest consumers of energy. Generating compressed air can account for up to 10% of total industry energy consumption, increasing up to 40% in certain applications. Any savings that can be made in compressed air systems can therefore have a significant impact on costs and on the environment. In view of this Atlas Copco has been continuously innovating in energy efficient compressed air solutions for many years.
Our commitment to reduce the carbon footprint of our equipment at every stage of a compressors' lifetime, from cradle to grave has drastically reduced our carbon emissions. As a result of this, today more than 99% of the carbon footprint of a compressor is now in its operation, with less than 1% generated from its design, manufacture and distribution.
Energy is the most important factor in the total cost of ownership of Atlas Copco products. Through continuous innovations such as our Variable Speed Drive technology, Atlas Copco sees it as a duty to get these costs down. As energy consumption typically represents over 80% of a compressor's lifecycle cost, energy savings in compressed air systems will have a significant impact towards preserving not only the environment but also your bottom line.
Our latest innovation can be found in our Carbon Zero range of compressors, where our customers can recover up to 100% of the input energy, by converting the input electrical energy into heat through our unique built-in energy recovery system. Our passion for efficiency is not limited to industrial applications and equipment; our FuelXpert™ option intelligently regulates the engine speed and air intake of our portable diesel-driven compressors, optimizing fuel consumption. This results in direct savings of 10%. It has been estimated that if all Atlas Copco's portable compressors were fitted with the FuelXpert™ option we would save more than 150 million litres of fuel per year. Our innovative portable compressors and generators also feature class-leading fuel efficiencies, and with advance silencing; producing some of the lowest levels of operating noise in the market. In the last three generations of compressors we have managed to reduce noise emissions by 50%, and since 1971 exhaust emissions have been reduced by 99%.
Class Zero certification has been another milestone contributing to the ongoing success of Atlas Copco, especially in sectors with purity-critical applications such as petrochemical, pharmaceutical or the food and beverage industry. Setting the standard for air purity, Atlas Copco was the first manufacturer to be awarded ISO 8573-1 'CLASS 0' certification. With Atlas Copco's oil-free technology, leaks and energy waste are minimized. Also, the need for condensate treatment is eliminated. This allows you to safeguard the environment and better comply with international environmental and safety regulations.
